Please join us on Zoom (link available via email) from 7-7:40pm MT every other Wednesday night: W Dec 28, W Jan 11, etc. All are welcome! We’ll talk about the Four P’s—Policy, Plan, Purchasing Power, and People—as we prepare to qualify for the Nov 2024 ballot by collecting signatures from F Feb 17 to W Nov 22, 2023. (Mark your calendars, and follow the previous link if you’re new to the campaign and want to get caught up!)

Policy: We finally have the building blocks for our measure! For details, join the Zoom call on Wednesday (or send an email), but please share your thoughts before we finalize our measure on our planned filing date: Tuesday, Jan 10. FYI we will be discussing various options on the Zoom call, but the broad outline of the policy remains the same: $100m a year for clean air programs, $50m a year for rural economic development, eliminate the state sales tax on grocery store food, and pay for it all with a modest carbon tax on the fossil fuels that worsen local air pollution and global climate change.

Plan: We’re updating the calendars and roadmap! Here are draft calendars for the state: the 8 districts north of SLC, the 5 districts south of Provo, the 7 west-side districts between SLC and Provo, and the 9 east-side districts between SLC and Provo. And here’s a monthly Roadmap draft that’s currently focused on January, February, and March. Feedback on any or all of this is welcome!

Purchasing power: We only need to meet a (fairly modest) $5k budget to start signature-gathering! Budget details coming on the Zoom call. And PS we got a delivery of three boxes of stickers just in time for Christmas! (Visit us on Facebook and Instagram to like those photos and spread the word, and of course donations are welcome.)

People: Call for district leaders! We are searching for volunteers to serve as district leaders for the campaign. District leaders will help organize teams of signature-gathering volunteers in individual senate districts across Utah. The signature gathering period will run from mid-February through mid-November of 2023; active recruitment of signature gathering volunteers will begin in earnest in January 2023. To qualify for the ballot we need to hit a statewide target (about 150,000 valid signatures) as well as targets of about 5,000 valid signatures in 26 of the 29 state senate districts. This is an opportunity to play a leadership role in the campaign and to take action against air pollution and climate change. Now is the time to join our team!
