Please join us on zoom (link available via email) from 7-7:40pm MT every other Wednesday night: W Dec 1, W Dec 15, etc. All are welcome! We’ll talk about policy development and outreach efforts as we prepare to qualify for the Nov 2024 ballot by collecting signatures from about Feb 27 – Nov 27, 2023. (Mark your calendars, and follow the previous link if you’re new to the campaign and want to get caught up!)

Air quality overview: At our last meeting Glade Sowards of DAQ was kind enough to present this PowerPoint about Utah air quality. One key take-away is that there’s lots we can do to improve air quality but it will take time and effort because there’s no one silver bullet.

Legislative update: We currently have a Zoom meeting scheduled for T Dec 7 at noon to talk about policy details and options for getting a bill introduced in the legislative session that goes from Jan 18 – March 4 2022. Let us know if you want an invitation to join that meeting!

Signature-gathering for Becky Edwards and Nick Huey: Climate and air quality champion Becky Edwards (who served in the state House from 2008-2018) is challenging Mike Lee for the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate. To make sure she’s on the primary ballot she’ll need to gather 28,000 signatures this coming winter and spring, so this is an opportunity for us to help a strong candidate (and get signature-gathering practice for 2023!). If you’re interested you can sign up here and also register for a training session (5:30-6:00pm on either T Nov 30 or M Dec 6). Similarly, climate champion Nick Huey is challenging Burgess Owens for the Republican nomination for U.S. House District 4 (mostly Salt Lake and Utah Counties). You can sign up here to help and get updates. Good luck Becky and Nick!
