Hello clean-air-and-climate friends:

Halloween “do or die”: We’ve submitted over 31,000 signatures (!) and the latest info from the state (which has a lag of up to 30 days because of the time it takes to validate signatures) shows that they’ve validated over 22,000 signatures, but we need to do more in order to hit 1,000 signatures a day in order to continue beyond October. There are lots of great signature-gathering events coming up, and by the end of this week please email us (info@DarnAir.org) with a rough tally of how many signatures you’ve gathered but not yet turned in.

Talks on Wednesday Oct 30 at UVU and Westminster: We’ll have two presentations relating to the campaign on Wednesday. At Westminster College, chapter leader Madi O’Neal and co-founder Colleen Farmer will be part of a discussion at 6pm in Meldrum Science Center Room 170. And at UVU, yours truly (Yoram Bauman) will be part of an event that will also include Rob Davies (USU physics professor, who will focus on climate change) and Arden Pope (BYU  economics professor, who will focus on air quality); that event will be from 7-8:30pm in Science Building room 134 (SB134). All are welcome!

Help keep track of the 30-day deadline for signature packets: According to the state’s rules, each signature must be dated and each packet must be submitted within 30 days of the first signature (e.g., Nov 4 if the first signature date is October 5). We’re doing our best to stay on top of it all, but you can help by keeping an eye on the first signature date in your packet(s) and emailing us if the 30-day window is approach. Thank you!
