Hello clean-air-and-climate friends:
250 Club update: Congrats to Brad Kropp, to Kelsey Carston, and to Sarah Thacker and her daughter Addie for being the newest members of the 250 Club (folks who have collected 250+ signatures); they join Anil Seth, Bob Cieri, Justin Saxton, Madi O’Neal, Charles Ashurst, and Kelly Kerr! Some of those folks are closing in on the 1,000 Club, which also includes Colleen Farmer and Emissionaries Kaitlin McLean and Roger B. And congrats to Yoram Bauman for reaching 3,000 signatures and to Dave Carrier for being the new leader of the pack, with 3,500 signatures and counting!
Campaign status: Overall, we’ve submitted over 16,000 signatures. (The county clerks haven’t looked at all of them yet, but they have looked at 13,000 of them: see the PDF here, based on state data here.) We need to pick up the pace at college campuses (contact college chapter leaders here to get involved) and elsewhere, including gathering at these upcoming events:
Signature-gathering events: The last three Red Butte concerts (all sold out!) are this Thursday, Friday, and Monday, so check out details and sign up here! Friday is also the Global Climate Strike, which includes a march on the state Capitol. If you miss the hot weather then email Bob Cieri (bob@DarnAir.org) to join him on Saturday in our booth at the St George Pride Festival. (He’d also love your company at Moab Pride the following Saturday.) Also on Saturday are the usual collection of farmers markets, a BYU football game, the People’s Energy Summit in SLC, and if you habla español then please join me in showing off our nifty Spanish-language signboards at one of the two (competing?) events in SLC: the Utah Latino Festival and the Hispanic Heritage Parade and Street Festival. And there’s more events too, so check out the complete calendar of events and email info@DarnAir.org to help gather signatures!
